All right so I decided I am going to start 4 cylinder racing at a local race track. The thing is that I have no idea what I should start out with so far as a car. I had an option of a 96 Grand Am 4 cylinder. But I cannot have a DOHC, I want something that has good power for a 4 cylinder. I know some of you stock car guys think that nothing has power until it has a V8 in it. Which is true but still... not what im looking for. The car needs to be front wheel drive, needs to have a single cam, but you can use a 2.3L 3 valved engine.

I have a shot at a 92 Honda Civic 5 speed, which would work but its pounded I would have to rebuild it and the guy wants $900.00 for it.

Any information would be helpful

Thanks a lot

Ok. well I forgot one thing The Car Has To Be Completely STOCK. as far as suspension motor and drive train. They do allow a little bit of leeway with tires and well thats it.

Thanks again

I just boought a car myself, a 85 Chrysler laser with a 2.2 turbo EFI engine for $225.00 but its need a lot a work, just not on the engine. 900 for a car you are gonna beat the hell out doesnt make much sence to me unless you were talking about v-8 racing. Hondas do pack quite a punch and do really well up at my local track so i would try haggeling and if it doenst work there will always be more cars. Keep it cheap, fun and above all, safe.

How about a follow up? What car did you end up getting and how did it go?
