Is it time for fuel injection to be allowed on the race track on late model cars? Would allowing FI hurt racers or help them?

I would see no harm in allowing them. At the track I cover, Southside Speedway, we don't run true late models. It's more of a limited late model. In fact, Langley is the closest thing to real late models being a Nascar sanctioned track.

I don't see how it could hurt or help the racing. I say go ahead and allow it. It may make a learning curve for some teams but will make things interesting.

I think FI would be great.  Instead of a complicated port FI, let the cars run the Projection unit that Holly developed that simply bolts on the manifold and operates similar to a carburetor.  It would be less expensive for the owner and easier to police by the technical people.  I beleive Nextel Cup would be great move and possibly go to E85 fuel to go green and keep the Environmental geeks happy.

Though Fuel Injection provides some advantages like quick throttle response, more dependable and easier engine starting, reliability under extreme high or low temperatures and better fuel efficiency, it also have certain disadvantages such as potential hazards due to high fuel pressure. It doesn't mean that the FI should not be used in racing. But it shall be used with precautions like relieving the pressure for safety.
