Hey Marcus, There are some really good books that can help with the sponsorship stuff and a subscription to Circle Track or Stockcar Racing magazines would be a good place to start. Unfortunately most peple don't do enough preplanning and just jump into something that may be over thier head and therefor get quickly discouraged. Always keep in mind that it takes lots of tallent to be successful along with the money and quality equipment . Some of the tallent can be aquired but don't expect to be the next (insert favorite driver's name here) first time out of the box , and start off in a class like ministocks, dwarf cars or the likes. Listen to the people who are successful in those classes to learn as much as you can . Good luck!

I agree with strangewrencher, start out in a smaller class, like mini stock, hobby stock, pure stock, enduro, or hornet that is cheaper and can be self funded and you dont need a sponsor. one of these cars can cost anywhere from $350-$2500. it is also helpful to start lower to get your name out there and build up your skills. After 2-5 years, Go to your local companies or factories, and show them how you succeeded in the smaller classes, and tell them you would like to move up and ask for a small sponsor ship like 75-150 dollars a race. Do this with 4 businesses and put thier sricker pn your car and earn 400 bucks a night. After 10 nights yur car will be paid off just from sponsors, then after that you put all the money you get from sponsors, and winnings, and save it, and use it to move to a higher class, like latemodels, or even sprint cars, and i you do well, ask for higher sponsor ship funding.
